Shannon Farley has taught violin and viola privately since 2002, and holds a M.M. degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison where she studied violin with Professor Tyrone Greive. As an undergraduate, Shannon studied photography and violin performance at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities where she studied violin with Professor Mark Bjork and Minnesota Orchestra violinist Stephanie Arado and viola with Minnesota Orchestra violist Tom Turner. Additional viola studies include tutelage under Katrin Talbot ( MSO) and Jossalyn Jensen ( solo violist of the Orchestre de Chambre de Paris).
Shannon is trained in Suzuki Viola books 1-7 and Suzuki Violin books 1-8. In addition to teaching, Shannon plays in a variety of local and regional music ensembles including: the Dubuque Symphony, La Crosse Symphony, Fresco Opera, and LunArt Music Festival and The Underground Chamber Collective of Madison. Shannon regularly performs in the Canzonetta Duo with classical guitarist Chris Allen.
Shannon has an adorable dog named Elsa and a kitty Mr. Meowgi. She is an avid runner and is starting to participate in races and has her eyes set on doing a half marathon soon. Shannon is always up for a culinary adventure and is a very good cook. Living near one of our lakes in Madison gives Shannon a chance to paddle around on her inflatable kayak.
