Since 1990, SSM has been proud to foster the growth of hundreds of musicians in Madison and beyond. Throughout that time, our community has met in churches and schools, but our dream has always been to teach and perform in a space dedicated to the arts. We are excited to announce an opportunity to achieve that dream! The soon-to-open Madison Youth Arts Center. We will be able to utilize space at MYAC for group classes, play-ins, concerts and recitals, while private lessons will remain in their current locations.
The planned opening date of the center is fall of 2021. Centrally located at the corner of Mifflin and North Ingersoll, the building will include 15 studio/rehearsal spaces ranging from 550 to 2000 square feet, a flexible performance space that will seat about 120, a theater with about 300 fixed seats, a scene production shop, storage and office space and onsite parking. SSM looks forward to starting this new chapter in its long and varied life. MYAC will provide us with a stable home base. There will be changes but also the chance for growth. We are excited about the adventure ahead for the following reasons:
-
The comfort and beauty of a new building designed for performing arts instruction specifically for young people.
-
The opportunity to empower our students’ growth through collaborations with other string programs and different arts organizations such as Madison Youth Choirs and Children’s Theatre of Madison.
-
Expanded access for young violinists throughout Madison and Dane County strengthening our program’s diversity.
-
The partnership will increase SSM’s visibility locally and nationally.
-
It will allow SSM’s legacy to flourish.
