Repertoire for our 30th Anniversary SSM concert with links to help practice selections from MBC

Our Spring and Winter online group classes incorporated Music of Black composers into our curriculum . This November 6, 2021, we will celebrate our 30 year Anniversary with guest violinist Rachel Barton Pine . Rachel is passionate about helping to change the face of classical music through greater diversity, making the music of Black composers available to everyone.

Rachel Barton Pine is the founder of her foundation and its Music by Black Composers project. The book MBC Violin volume 1 ( with volume 2 in production right now) gave our SSM students a chance to explore and broaden their perspectives learning about Black composer biographies and selected violin pieces.

With Rachel playing with us, we will present 5 of the 22 pieces on our anniversary concert as well as selection from the Suzuki repertoire.

A link is included to practice with the audio of both violin 1 and piano and then also just the piano accompaniment below.
