SSM Spring Concert

May 11th 2024, MyArts Starlight Theater
2:30 Tune ~ 3:00 Performance

We are excited to celebrate our students hard work at our Spring Concert! Below are details for the concert and dress rehearsal.

This concert will be ticketed.  Our $20 family ticket includes performers, immediate family and grandparents.  Guests are $10 each.  Kids under 12 free.  Tickets will be available at the door–cash or credit card accepted.  We will be videotaping this concert–please make sure you have an updated photo/video release this year!

Violin Dress Rehearsal – Tuesday, May 7th at MyArts; Tune 5:15 ~ Rehearse 5:30 Rm 4D

*String Ensemble Rehearsal 5:00-5:30 Rm 1C

Viola Dress Rehearsal – Monday, May 6th at 7:15 pm

Formal concert attire: White long / cap sleeved top, Black bottoms pants or skirt, Black socks or tights, Black shoes (not running shoes).
If you have clothing your student has outgrown SSM has gently used share boxes that will be available at MYArts during April group classes.

 

Remake Learning Days–SSM Open House

Spread the word!  Suzuki Strings will be holding an open house on Tuesday, April 23rd from 4:15-6pm.  Participants will be able to engage in a Violin and Viola Petting Zoo, participate in Music and Movement classes, and experience Pre-Twinkle Violin and Book 1 Violin sessions.  Invite your friends!  More info HERE.

 

WYSO Mock Audition Workshop

Shannon Farley is offering a WYSO Mock Audition Workshop!  Click here to register.

A mock audition will provide your child the opportunity to prepare their entire audition for a guest judge in a closed room (like the real audition). The mock audition will provide both verbal and written feedback (with a real WYSO judge’s form). The judge will also give your child the opportunity to practice sightreading.
When: Sunday morning (you will be assigned a 15 (Sinfonietta, Opus)  or 20 minute (Concert Philharmonia,-Youth) time slot between 8:45 A.M and 12:15 P.M )
Where: in the classrooms (second floor) or St. Thomas Aquinas Church (enter through sanctuary doors) The address is:  602 Everglade Drive, Madison WI.
What to bring: Please be sure to bring your instrument, shoulder rest, all excerpts, scales, and a photocopy of your solo. I will email you your child’s exact time by Wednesday May 15. Once you have your time, please arrive at least ten minutes prior to your assigned time.
Cost: $27 per student. Tuition is due by May 12. Please see below on how to pay.

SSM Performs at Madison Children’s Museum

All are welcome!  Suzuki Strings will be performing at the Madison Children’s Museum as a part of their Remake Learning Days celebration on Saturday, April 27th at 2pm.   We will be playing the repertoire on the May Concert list (posted above).  Please wear your SSM T-shirt and jeans.   Stop by and join the fun!

If you missed the T-shirt ordering deadline, we will have extras available for purchase!  If you have an SSM T-shirt you’ve outgrown, please bring to Tuesday rehearsals so it can find a new home.

Celebrate the end of the year with SSM!  We’ll gather on Tuesday, May 14 for a special social evening.

Mallards–June 15

SSM will perform the National Anthem at the Madison Mallards on Saturday, June 15.  SSM will also be the spotlight on non-profit night!  This is a big fundraiser for SSM and we invite you to welcome family and friends to come and participate.
Tix will be sold directly via our special SSM link for this fundraiser–Stay tuned for more information!

 

North Shore Suzuki Strings Workshop

Join the North Shore Suzuki Strings Workshop in Shorewood, Wisconsin on April 27th!  Early registration ends on April 13.

Overture Community Ticket Program

Suzuki Strings takes part in Overture Center’s Community Ticket program.  The Community Ticket Program helps ensure that all people, regardless of economic ability, have access to the performing arts. Through partnerships with more than 100 local social services organizations, the program reaches families throughout Dane County that are able to receive tickets for $3, and Broadway shows are $4.25.  Occasionally we will be offered tickets for certain shows, and I’ll post them here.  If you’re interested, please email mollydaypeterson@gmail.com for ticket ordering instructions.
