Dear Parents

Dear Parents,

Welcome to all of the families who have just begun their Suzuki Strings of Madison journey with us.  Yesterday at the Play-In we experienced the scope of the entire program.  It was a very busy Tuesday. Alongside the monthly group Play In of our shared Suzuki repertoire, we held a dress rehearsal for our upcoming solo recital, and a special technique talk for our Book 4/5 and Sonora students.  Special musical treats from Sonora Strings and our String Ensemble rounded out the evening.

The wide eyed focus of our front row of Pre-twinklers, as they stirred their cauldron of brew and shouted BOO!, sets the tone for the future development of our program. This is how it all begins, and we are glad that you have entrusted your violin journey to us at SSM.  The next few Dear Parent letters I will focus on a variety of topics and resources  for you – to help support your student/s.

The Play Ins are a chance both to inspire our youngest members and remind our veteran students of their beginnings. The Sonora Strings touring ensemble currently has several graduating seniors who once stood in that pre-twinkle row.  Yesterday you heard them sharpening performance skills as they prepare music for their upcoming San Diego tour.

Imagine the growth on so many levels that occurs from that very first twinkle to getting ready to travel as a musical ensemble .  A dozen or more years of playing violin together,  in groups classes, concerts, and social events.  It is a musical village, where  we strive to create an environment of nurturing for each and every student at SSM at every step of their development.  Thank you for being a part of it.

With a twinkling spirit,
Diana
