Dear Parents,
At the end of each month Suzuki Strings of Madison comes together in a PLAY-IN. So what and why do we have this instead of just meeting in our normal weekly book classes?
Play-Ins serve many purposes. On the most basic level, they are an opportunity for the entire program to come together, a built in time for our dress rehearsals for upcoming performances, a reason to polish that monthly play list, and they are motivating .
When you look up, listen, and watch, you’ll see the littlest one’s bright eyes searching for yours as they show the entire school their very best bow holds or newest twinkle variation.
If you are a parent of such a little, you will hear the older students share music at a high level of ability . If you are a parent of a teen , you see the promise in that first row and know the exciting musical journey that awaits them .
It is the same for the students. Their bonus is they get to PLAY! Showcasing the month’s group practice, some trying out their newest pieces for the first time in a group setting, marking their musical trajectory. Special sharing by the various book classes, Sonora and our Strings Ensemble. Experiencing different SSM faculty leaders is inspiring, and having a wonderful SSM professional piano accompaniment is a treat.
Play-Ins are an opportunity to meet new friends and connect with old ones, for our students and for our adults. We have students from all over Madison and the greater Dane County area. It is a gift to witness these musical friendships which are formed from pre-school and carry on through high school.
We at SSM appreciate your attendance and attention at these Play-Ins . I know the all of the kids do. They have you, a welcoming and supportive audience with which to share their hard work and joy-filled playing.
With a twinkling spirit ,
Diana
