SSM Barn Dance is February 15th–Mark your Calendars!

Congratulations to Sonora for an incredible tour to San Diego!  You represented SSM and Madison with great success.  Pictures are below!

Both the Madison Symphony Orchestra and the Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra are presenting wonderful concerts this month.  Nothing brightens a dreary January like some beautiful music!  A reminder that Suzuki Strings receives greatly discounted tickets through the Overture Community Ticket program ($4).  Details on the program are listed below.

A reminder to please visit the website to pay spring tuition before Tuesday, January 21st–after that a late fee will be added for tuition.

Spring Tuition

Spring group classes are now available for purchase on the SSM website under the STORE section. Please visit this link to view and purchase your child’s group class tuition.  Class prices are the same as Fall 2024.  Tuition is due by the first day of group classes, which is Tuesday, January 7, 2025.

Strings Ensemble and RCM Theory classes will continue through May!  We will continue to offer multi-level and viola classes at Covenant on Monday evenings.  Class dates are January 13/27, February 10/29, March 10/31, April 14/28.  *The Multi-level Monday group class offering will depend on the number of students registered*

For families joining us for the first time this spring, please complete the Registration Form in addition to making your purchase. This ensures we have all the necessary information to provide the best experience for you and your child.

SSM Barn Dance–Saturday, February 15th

You don’t want to miss the SSM Barn Dance on Saturday, February 15th!  SSM students will perform fiddling tunes, followed by community dancing with a bluegrass band and caller.  Students will be working on fiddling tunes in group classes to prepare for this event. Saturday February 15, Goodman Community Center (214 Waubesa St, Madison). Fiddling and Dancing 4-6PM (open to the public).  Potluck 6-8PM (SSM students and families.)

Please match the level  of your student (consult with your home teacher) for repertoire to learn for this fun event.  The links to purchase the books are listed below. We have used these books in all previous barn dance events. Learn as many tunes as you can!

Overture Center Community Ticket Program

Suzuki Strings takes part in Overture Center’s Community Ticket program.  The Community Ticket Program helps ensure that all people, regardless of economic ability, have access to the performing arts. Through partnerships with more than 100 local social services organizations, the program reaches families throughout Dane County that are able to receive tickets for $3, and Broadway shows are $4.25.  Occasionally we will be offered tickets for certain shows, and I’ll post them here.  The promo code for the concerts is SUZUKI.

 

These tickets will be available starting on Monday, December 30th at 11am.

If you have any issues with your promo code or getting tickets, it would be best to email or call the ticket office, since I will be out of office until January 2nd. You may email tickets@overture.org or call 608-258-4141 for assistance.
