Please Read–Details for our Rachel Barton Pine Workshop and Performance!

Below are ALL the details for our recital/workshop with Rachel Barton Pine this Tuesday! Please take a few minutes to read through all of the details carefully.  

Arrival – 5:00 PM at WYSO (not MYARTs!)

  • Parents: Please arrive with or drop off your children by 5:00 PM.  Parking is available at Lapham school, MYArts and the WYSO lot next to Avis Care rental.  There is also street parking available on East Washington.
  • Enter through the main entrance at 1118 E. Washington.
  • Go up the grand stairs to Studio B (Founders Studio) on the second floor.
  • All students: Leave cases and coats in Studio B.
  • Dress for Tuesday is school clothes!

Student Instructions

Pre-Twinkles

  • Stay in Studio B with Maria Rosa and Janse.
  • You will be taken downstairs when it is time.

Books 1–3, Prelude, and Sonora

  • Bring your instrument.
  • Go to Rabin Hall (Studio A, first floor).
  • Proceed to tuning and line up.

Performance Plan

  • We will all begin together with “Mele Sue Twinkle.” After Twinkle, Twinklers will be excused to either sit in the audience, or return to Studio B to watch via the large livestream screen.

Books 1–3, Prelude, and Sonora

  • Remain in your spots for the full performance.
  • Concert repertoire:

    • Fairytales
    • Just So in the North
    • Le Jour de May
    • Richmond Hill
    • Deserted Garden
    • Rippling Spring Waltz
    • The Call to the Feast

After Sonora plays for Rachel:

  • Students will be dismissed to return upstairs to Studio B to put instruments away.

Please do NOT bring coats or instruments to the reception.

Reception (7:00–8:00 PM) on the main level

Food & Drinks will  be available, including

  • Bagel sandwiches:
    • Turkey or ham
    • Hummus and cheese
    • Cheese only
  • Apple cider, lemonade, and water
  • Variety of cookies
  • Celebratory cake

Overture Lobby Pre-Show Performances

Important Check-In Instructions (ALL Performers)

  • Enter FIRST at the Madison Symphony Command Center check-in on Henry Street.
  • Diana will greet you there and take students to the warm-up space.
  • Parents: Please go directly to the Overture Lobby.

Dress Code: Black bottoms, White tops, No logos or prints, Black shoes, Black socks or stockings

 

Saturday, February 21: SONORA

  • Arrival: 6:00 PM, Performance: 6:30–7:15 PM
  • Repertoire: Sonora Chazen Program

Sunday, February 22: SONORA, Prelude, and Books 1–3

  • Arrival: 1:00 PM, Performance: 1:30–2:15 PM

Sunday Repertoire (Books 1–3)

  • Twinkle, Aunt Rhody, Perpetual Motion, Minuet 1, Hunter’s Chorus, Handel Bourrée, Gavotte in G Minor, MBC pieces, Sonora selections

Symphony Ticket Vouchers

  • All performers will receive two vouchers for tickets to the Symphony. Voucher sign-up will be on Tuesday at the SSM display table during the Rachel Barton Pine event.
