Here is our second installment of organizing your home practice by creating intersections between: strategies , time and motivation .
TIPS FOR EMPOWERMENT
Last time we focused on strategic self-encouragement utilizing I AM PROUD OF MYSELF FOR … reflection AFTER you completed your practice session.
This week :
DO ONE THING AT A TIME
Do not try to do everything at once. Concentrate on one aspect of your playing at a time. Decide is it left hand ( fingers) or right hand ( bow arm ) you want to focus on. Break everything down into the smallest manageable components.
Small achievable steps are the Golden Nuggets of Practice .
TIPS FOR EFFICIENCY
Last time we focused on adding a note going forwards or adding a note going backwards. Also known as packing or unpacking grandma’s suitcase.
This week:
Expanding Snippets -rather than starting on either end of a measure start in the middle and keep adding notes on either side. Do this at tempo and you’ll have that measure secure and brilliant in no time.
TIPS FOR JOY
Last time we focused on adding time to goof off and just have pure fun in your practice.

Daily Decision apps : Use for technique or review
DECIDE NOW is a popular one
These are random wheels /roulette games where you input your tasks . Ie. Breakdown passage by measures. List your scales or technical exercises. Enter your review pieces.
Reading Rhythms apps : Use for rhythmic training
So many apps ! From rhythm generators like Rhythm Trainer to super fun games: The Most Amazing Sheep Game , Beat Blasts, Tap To Da Beat and more.
I think it might be fun to have a musical app share post for everything from best metronome app to coolest note blaster !
Practicing with intentionality and a tool box of effective skills will help that instrument make it out of the case with regularity and joy! Keep showing up .
